Question:

I am a Father that is not with my children's mother. I have stop paying child support and my balance is far greater than I can pay. Friend of court has a warrant for my arrest. How can I do the best I can at this point in my life?

Answer:

Make arrangements with friend of the court and pay what you can.

1. Learn or get help completing the motions (forms) used to communicate with Friend of the Court. Click Here for forms.

2.
Face the problem. As the Father you are responsible for financial support of your child/ren.

3.
Plan, how do you see completing your responsibility? Write it down.

4.
Separate finances into wants and needs (Make sure you know the difference)

5.
Add up the needs (Taking care of your children would be in the needs list, along with housing, etc.)

6.
What is the needs total? What is your income? Is the needs total greater than the income?

7.
Get  financial counseling. Call the 211 number for resources or visit the
Free Library for additional information.

Tip for the village:

Churches and Community centers may want to address these issues at their Family/Man Support  groups

If you do not have a group start one.
